Sights around Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port

Visit the surroundings of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port

On foot

Leaving Beilari you can walk to the Barrio de la Madeleine and to its church, then climb to Arradoy Mountain and visit the vineyards of Brana, Bordaxuri, Abotia and perhaps even try out some of the local wines under the denomination of origin called Irulegi.

By car

If you have a car at your disposal, there exists the possibility of many interesting excursions. We would recommend seeing the village of St-Etienne-de-Baigorri and then to continue on to the hills of Izpegi. If you have more time we highly recommend extending the trip to the valley of Baztan. There you will encounter a group of picturesque small Navarra villages, the heart of which is the important village of Elizondo. This trip will give you a real feel and taste of the slopes of Basque Country.

Another itinerary by car would be a visit to Irisarri, where you will find the imposing Ospitalea from the early 17th century.

As a third itinerary by car You would take the gateway to Ibañeta heading to mythical Roncesvalles. There you will be able to visit the monastery and get to know its rich history, as well as its connection to the history of the Camino-de-Santiago
